Buttermilk Brownies

From the kitchen of Dawn Corbin
INGREDIENTS
1c. butter
1/3 c. cocoa powder
2c. sugar
2c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 slightly beaten eggs
1/2 c. buttermilk
1+1/2 tsp. vanilla

Cocoa Buttermilk Frosting (below)

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
In sauce pan combine butter, cocoa powder and 1 cup water. Bring to a boil over medium high heat stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Sift flour, soda, and salt, in a large mixing bowl stir together sugar, flour, soda and salt: stir in eggs, buttermilk and vanilla.
Add cocoa mixture; mix till well blended.
Pour into a 15 1/2 X 10 1/2 X1 inch pan. ( this is cookie sheet size but it has to have 1 inch sides)
Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes
Immediately pour Cocoa Buttermilk Frosting spread evenly. Cool and cut inot 36 or 60 pieces, very rich so in my opinion 60 is better.

Cocoa Buttermilk Frosting
1/4 c. butter
3 Tbsp. cocoa powder
3 tbsp. buttermilk
2 1/4 c. sifted powdered sugar
1/2 c. walnuts, chopped
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
In sauce pan mix butter, cocoa and buttermilk. Cook over medium heat until it comes to a boil; remove from heat. Beat in powdered sugar, walnuts and vanilla. Spread over hot brownies immediately after removing them from the oven.
